CHINESE NEW YEAR VICTORY SPEECH

thats how much we came second by...not much in anyones language and in my eyes we won on the day..

we showed we can win races and kick ass

we showed that we can have shocking starts (blame still lies with the starter) and recover and still win even tho half the crew still had the after taste of kfc chips in their mouths

we showed great organisation and composure that even the raced organisers commented on

we showed we have POWER, TIMING and CO-ORDINATION that is the essential make up of a great dragon boat team.

BUT most of all and it was something that impressed me most was the huge TEAM SPIRIT that we carried with us thru the course of the day. Whether it was just going out there for fun and experience or to kick butt, the comradery that was displayed was sensational!! That led me to believe that team spirit is the fourth important component of db racing..being a TEAM sport n all. seeing such team spirit gave me warm fuzzy feeling in my heart..so did collecting the trophy today in front of an enormous audience...even cindy po was there..geez shes white..whiter than u james!!..

anyways two reasons for turning up to training tues..view, hold, kiss, or molest the trophy and to continue the team spirit right thru and not letting the commited rowers down who turn up week in week out. Many out there have expressed they have not been pushed hard enuff to date..and it isnt possible to do without the the fitness levels of all in the boat being at equal...so turn up, give me and ange a core crew of 18-20 serious rowers to work with and we shall kick ass in future races.

thanx to those who showed up in between commitments..james julie vinita nikyip vihn and special mention to douggie!! who showed up ready for one race only to be denied the opportunity because of poor race day organisation and issecent delays to the programme..the special mention because he shows up to most training sessions,rows hard wants to go harder and turns up on race day to compete even tho he has to work later in the morning..he coulda just had more sleep in the morning..( no im not gay or wanna boof u douggie..just wanted to point out the COMMITMENT to rowing that u and others such as (cor thuy(tweee) ange bindy bel justin paul samx2 richard casey shirl jac) have and hope many more to follow suit.

thanx to paul for going to have a party and video this years events( more on that later stay tuned) and for turning cockle bay orange when he had a shower thanx to clint for doing a magnificent job steering thru dodgy darling harbour, excellent work mate,saw many other crews on both days collidewith each other thanx to the volvo promo girls and especially the two chicks(one caucasian, one asian...blessed with incredible lung capacity and tiny waists..) who somehow managed to interupt one of my "motivational" talks to the crew..thanx ladies you gave a warm fuzzy feeling down there thanx to... ummmmm...fark lost my chain of thought there..still thinking of the two chix haha

anyways ill end it there , on a happy note, well happy for me anyway.great effort on sat guys and girls, if theres anything to take out of saturday..TEAM SPIRIT...........BRING ON CANBERRA!!
