After three years of paper warfare in two countries, Sandra and Geoff are very happy and relieved to announce the long-awaited referral of their daughter from China.

On December 4th the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) phoned to tell us that we had been allocated GUO Xiao Qiu, 14 months old. A Red Thread coincidence for us is that Xiao Qiu was born on the very day that our application was sent to China: 18th September 2001. People in the worldwide Chinese adoption community often refer to Red Threads, a reference to a Chinese folk story about an invisible red thread tying you to loved ones.
Three photos (see below) and a brief medical report were provided but they were 8 months out of date. Did we want this child? Who were they kidding? Of course we wanted this child, more than anything. It took us just under 6 weeks to complete all the paperwork and organise our batch of 6 couples, known as NSW Batch 7, to get to China to collect our daughters.

We flew to Nanning, Guangxi Province in the south of China on 12th January 2003 and stayed at the Mingyuan Xindu Hotel.

This page is being maintained by Lin's Poppa, it is to be a diary of events while they are in China and after they return. As Lin is Geoff & Sandra's daughter I am sure that when she brings her parents home from China, Lin will maintain this web page by herself.

If you have been monitoring this site previously, it may pay to recheck the early pages as additional items continue to be added.
