Eastside Arts represents a major program of performing and visual
arts events staged within the vibrant atmosphere of the Saturday
Paddington Bazaar and the acoustic ambience of the historic 1877
Uniting Church.
The arts program stems from the church's long-term commitment to
exploring the link between the arts and spirituality. As well as
supporting and encouraging the local arts community in its work,
it is hoped the program opens the doors of the church even further
to an arts community, which often feels excluded from traditional
churches.
The program includes arts events in the Bazaar, Concert Series combining
some of the best jazz and acappella groups in Australia, exhibitions
of artists of the stature of George Gittoes (97) and John Coburn
(98), as well as an exploration of the arts during worship. Eastside
Arts aims to engage the resources provided by the arts to enhance
human spirituality and faith exploration. Worship related events
are held the first Sunday (Sunday Arts) and the third Friday of
the month (Time Out).
