Comments: DISC 1 (69:43) The Song Remains The Same, The Rover/Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over The Hills And Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter.
The first four songs are indeed from this famous show! They are muffled and somewhat bass heavy. The balance floats around quite a bit along with a some dropouts in sound. However even with all that the music is still clear and listenable. An emphasis on treble was clearly made during these songs as Jimmy's guitar seems to fade in and out! These first four songs rate a 7! Some proper EQ will lessen these problems! It's not at all a downing factor! The rest of the show starting with Since I've Been Loving You is clearly from a diferent tape source! This tape is MUCH clearer and brighter. There are cuts in Since I've Been Loving You at 2:18, 2:38, and 5:00 but they are minor. No Quarter is the best version I've ever heard! There is a change in balance at 5:14 during the thermain intro going into John Paul Jones' GREAT piano solo. There is also a slight cut towards the end of the song during Plant's Dog's of Doom howls. Again, these cuts and balance changes are very small! They take nothing away from the first 69+ minutes of this set! Since I've Been Loving You and No Quarter rate a 9 in sound quality with emphasis clearly made on treble enhancement! DISC 2 (61:23) Ten Years Gone, Battle Of Evermore, Going To California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur-Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot. There is a cut in Ten Years Gone during Jimmy's guitar solo. It's small and not as telling as the cut in the same song during the Eddie show! There are some cuts and balance problems during the first minute of Bron-yr-Aur Stomp. A small cut is also noticed at the start of Jimmy's guitair solo in Trampled Underfoot. Again these cuts are minor and don't let them fool you! Highlights here are the great version of Ten Years Gone and John Paul Jones' losing control of the mellotron during Kashmir. Jimmy's guitar cuts out on him during the first few minutes of Trampled Underfoot. The sound quality continues to be enjoyable. Still a 9 in my book! Disc 3 (63:05) Out On The Tiles/Moby Dick, (KEITH MOON ON TYMPANY!) Guitar Solo/Achilles Last Stand, Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock And Roll (Keith Moon again on Whole Lotta Love and Rock And Roll.) Moby Dick is the highlight of this last part of the show. Keith Moon and John Bonham on the same stage!! It doesn't get any better than that. Unfortunately, there is a cut at 16:14 during this famous solo. This is the only blemish about this latest Cobla release. However, most of the solo is here and Keith Moon prominantly features himself! This solo is a wonderful momment in the annals of Rock History! Sound during this last disc is still a 9! Dropouts and balance problems are very few and NOT even noticed! It's outstanding quality! The cover is a replica of the old Dragonfly LP's. This title comes in two minature album sleves. The first one has a cool shot of JP on the cover with dark and light blue colors. LED ZEPPELIN is written at the top in large grey! Disc one ant two were in this sleve! Disc one is yellow and disc two is hot pink. They say Dragonfly records presents the sounds of the 60's, a musical documentary. The second album sleeve has a picture of Robert extending the microphone in a similar background as Jimmy's sleeve. This cover has a black background as well. The slipcases are NOT plastic like other Cobla releases! They are of a white cloth like material and add even more beauty to the colorful discs! Bottom Line: The packaging is beautiful. The sound quality is EXCELLENT! The first four songs are here and although not as good in sound as the rest of the show, are quite listenable! A GEM!
