With the blessing of his Eminence Archbishop Paul Saliba, the Orthodox Diary for 2009 has been published by Saints Michael and Gabriel Publications for use by the faithful in the Archdiocese.
The worship of God is at the centre of the life of the Orthodox Church. We worship Him with our body, our mind and our spirit. Through fasting we offer our body to the Lord, with scriptural readings and patristic saying we fill our hearts and minds with the Lord and by prayer we lift our spirit to dwell in His Presence. The 2009 diary is an invaluable resource that will assist us in our worship and spiritual life - it will allow us to keep in mind the fasting periods during the year, there are beautiful patristic sayings in addition to the daily epistle and gospel readings as well as various prayers and the complete Psalms.
The 2009 Diary is also a great liturgical resource for clergy and laity since it sets out for each day the gospel and epistle readings, any applicable fasting requirements, the tone and eothinon for each week, the feasts and saints commemorated each day and festal periods (such as Great Lent). The Orthodox Calender is a Calendar of Feasts!
Finally, the diary also has a Secular Planner for 2009 and includes secular, religious, ecclesiastical holidays and school terms.
Attached is an order form for the 2009 diary.
