Presentation Services - DVD Slideshows
DVD Slideshow are recorded in a format known as
Mini-DVD. They provide interactive slideshows of your pictures.
DVD slideshows can be played on a DVD player, connected to your television.
They can also be displayed on your computer screen if you have a DVD
reader in your computer.
The media used for a Mini-DVD is an
ordinary recordable Compact Disk. Full DVD
functionality is available on Mini-DVDs, however the amount
of data that can be stored is restricted to the data
capacity of a CD.
At this stage Snapshot-Archive does not produce full
capacity DVD slideshows but will be investigating the
feasibility of doing so in the near future. Check back
at this site regularly if you are interested in this
possibility.
Features Summary
- Each "slideshow" consists of
one or more pictures.
- Each Mini-DVD can store multiple slideshows.
- Each Mini-DVD can hold
approximately 500 pictures.
- Slideshow can be played with
automatic slide advancement at a rate you decide at the
time of purchase.
- Normal DVD control features such
as forward, back, pause, play, zoom, etc can be used to
manually control a slide show
- Usage instructions will be
included with each DVD.
Audio Capability
It is possible to add an audio background to a DVD slideshow,
however due to copyright considerations we do not supported this
for commercial recordings.
General Recommendation
We recommend the purchase of a "Basic
Scanning" disk with all our non-computer slideshow
formats. A "Basic Scanning" disk is a
re-useable archive of your digitized images. This
provides a low cost basis for ordering other formats in the future, or
for creating a replacement tape if your slideshow is
lost or damaged.
Mini DVD Considerations
Some DVD players do not support the Mini DVD
format which is relatively new. If your DVD player
does not support Mini-DVD we would recommend a VCD format
Slideshow as an alternative. Please refer to the
"VCD Slideshow"
page under "Services".
