THE HOF EXPLAINED

The MK Hall of Fame was instituted to keep track of the comparitive success or lack thereof of all players playing MK. It doesn't work very well, but it is the best measurement the game has, so I will explain some of its underlying principles. The following is an explanation of the Players HOF only. I do not cover the Alliance HOF.

Rank: This simply shows the ordinal number indicating your place amongst your fellows (if you are number 200, that mean 199 players have better values than you). It can be used to show your place according to any of the other lists (even name).

Player: Your name and your rank title appear here. The rank title you are given depends on what fraction of the Metal-Knights score you have. The cut-offs for each rank are determined by 17ths of the Metal-Knights score. Exceptions to the rule are cadets that have 0 points and Recruits that have at least 1 point.

Rank Min Score Rank Min Score Rank Min Score
Cadet 0 points Sergeant 4/17 of MK Colonel 9/17 of MK
Recruit 1 point Lieutenant 5/17 of MK Lt.General 11/17 of MK
Soldier 1/17 of MK Captain 6/17 of MK General 13/17 of MK
Private 2/17 of MK Major 7/17 of MK Marshall 15/17 of MK
Corporal 3/17 of MK Lt.Colonel 8/17 of MK Metal-Knight MKs Score :)

Alliance: Shows the alliance (if any) that a player is in on that server.

Medal: Shows the Medal that the player has. The lower the number, the higher the value (same as rank). There is only 1 of each medal on each server. New medals are generated when someone wins a game in which no medals are present. Medals are exchanged whenever someone kills someone else in a game unless the killer already has a higher ranked medal.

Games: Shows how many games the player has joined in his career. This includes games that did not start due to lack of players, did not finish due to a server glitch of some sort or are currently in progress.

Kills: Shows how many times the player has eliminated another player in a game.

Wins: Shows how many times the player has been the last player left in a game (therefore the winner).

Died: Shows how many times the player has been eliminated in a game.

Avg: Shows the percentage of games won by the player. This is simply Wins/Games. As Games is not a very good indicator of games actually completed, Avg is usually lower than the true percentage of games won.

Ratio: Shows the average points value of the kills a player has made. This is equal to Score/Kills. As this includes any bonus points a player may have earned, it must be taken with a grain of salt when considering the skill of a player. Higher ranked players will always have lower ratios. Players from earlier in the HOF, when bonus points were lower will always have lower ratios.

Score: This score is intrinsic to the entire HOF system and yet the least well explained it would seem. Points are awarded according to the following rules:

  1. For winning a game: Each player alive at the end of a game recieves 1 point per enemy in that game. Therefore, a single player who wins a 10 player game would be awarded 9 points and a surviving alliance member of 3 members defeating 2 other alliances of 3 members each would be awarded 6 points.
  2. For being the leader of an alliance that wins a game: Even if you weren't part of the game, you are awarded 5 points for captaining a successful alliance.
  3. Points for killing an opponent: This consists of 2 components:
Firstly, you are awarded a number of points determined by the "value" of the opponent you defeated. This value is equal to 9*opponents score/MKs Score + 2 unless your opponent is a cadet in which case you gain 1 point. Therefore, you gain 1 point for a cadet, at least 2 points for a recruit, 10 points for a marshall and 11 for the MK himself.
Secondly you recieve bonus points if your opponent had a higher score than yourself. The bonus points are equal to (opponents score - your score)/10 rounded off. Therefore if your opponent had 583 points and you had 235 points you would receive 35 points ([583-235]/10=34.8).
  4. Points lost for dying: Whenever you die, you lose a number of points determined by your "value" as shown above.
  5. Your score cannot ever drop below 0.
