First an explanation of how the scoring
system in the Alliance Hall Of Fame works. Basically, when your alliance wins a game, the
alliance gains a number of points equal to the number of enemy players in the game. When
your alliance loses a game, the alliance will lose a number of points equal to its number
of players in the game. Given this, the most number of points that you can win in the one
game is 8 (a game with 5 alliances of 2 players each) and the least 2 (a game with 2
alliances of 2 players). Between these two extremes lie a number of other results. There
is no maximum number of points that an alliance may have in the HOF. There is however a
minimum. You cannot go below 0 points! Because of this, however, there are a great many
alliances with 0 points.
So how do you reach the top of the Alliance
HOF? Well, it's fairly simple really. You avoid putting yourselves into situations where
you could lose. Such situations include (but are not restricted to): playing against
anyone who can beat you to death with a limp rag any day of the week (check out each
players ratio and officer kills and compare to yours), having players in your alliance
that are lax about taking turns (and covering for others), playing against an alliance
with better teamwork than yours (they may not be better than you, but there are many
subtle sneaky ways that they somehow use to pull a win). You also want a fairly large
alliance so that it has several games running all the time (and winning as many as
possible of course). It isn't hard to reach the 2nd page of the Alliance standing, you
just need to have won about 6 more games than you have lost. But it is much harder to
reach the top 10. To beat those alliances you either have to win a lot of games or beat
all of those alliances quite a bit. Either way, you need to be ready to put some serious
work into it.
And then of course, there is the sad, scummy
ways to reach the top. You can get just as many points for your alliance defeating
pathetic losers as you can beating the cream of the alliances, so if you really feel that
you simply must have your name up in lights, you can go and pick on as many newbie
alliances as you can find. Sad, but true. The other sad option is to just join one of the
higher ranking alliances somehow. Then you don't have to worry about struggling to reach
the top, because you just inherited the position.
Now hands up anyone who can tell I'm not very
impressed with the whole Allied Hall of Fame concept. My there are a lot of you aren't
there....
