music has been pouring in to the stylofone foundation headquarters in unprecedented volume in 2003. MP3, cd, vinyl and community radio have provided enough fresh sound for a few lifetimes.
i decided to distill some of those sounds into audio cd sized containers... the digital equivalent of a 750 ml bottle of spirits.
i was influenced by: the "plunderphonics" movement, as exemplified by cassessteboy and the evolution control committee; the "bootleg" craze in dance music; and some of the off-the-wall programming of the more eclectic radio shows in sydney 2003 (jack off with jack shit, naked city).
the result is d.a.d. - the digital audio distillation. as i was assembling it i was envisaging a radio program, so my recommendation is that you listen to it once in a casual manner, then dispose of it by passing it on to someone else or returning it to the stylofone foundation. other possible uses are to keep it and listen to it as you would any other cd, or broadcast it on other media.
warning: the d.a.d. series contains explicit sexual references, very coarse language, and religious commentary likely to cause extreme offence.
