After removing the old paint using paint remover, burning, scraping, wire buffing I then decided to grind some of the rougher areas of the casting, this proved to be a LOT of work.

Once I got all the paint and crap off the name plate it polished up pretty well.

It looks easy in photo series but there was a lot of work to get to this stage. I painted the inside of the crankcase with two coats nitrocellulose crankcase paint.

Looking down the bore, it looks blue but that's only reflection. In the bottom is the trough that holds the oil that the con rod dipper dips into. The trough is above the normal oil level and is supplied with oil by a pipe from the pumped oil supply.

The oil pipes that deliver oil to the dipper trough and to the oil resavoirs on top of the main bearing housings.

On the right you can see one of the pipes going into the resavoir above the main bearing housing.

Main bearing housing up close. Part of the crankshaft is on the right.

Con rod in place, nuts tightened and split pins fitted.

Head and block assembled and painted with etch primer.
