My First split pattern on plate Pg1

My first attempt at a split pattern and also of mounting on a plate. The steel rule is a 150mm, about 6 inch. The piece to be cast is on the right, it's just a simple round solid with a reduced diameter on one end. The reduced diameter is just a size which will fit in my small 3 jaw lathe chuck. For the beginners (as me) the parts on the left are the "gate", the "runner", and what will be the bottom end of the sprue hole. This side of the mounted pattern will be in the bottom half of the flask. The bottom part of the flask is called the Drag.

This is the top side of the mounted pattern. This side of the mounted pattern will be in the top piece of the flask which is called the Cope.

Another view, I havn't yet bogged the hole in the sprue bottom. The hole goes right through and there is a piece of the dowel sticking out the top side.

Turning the piece of wood that will be used as a sprue hole former.

Another view.

There is the dowel poking up into the cope side. It will be used to locate the sprue hole former. My small flask is about 150mm x 150mm.
