  • Madman Entertainment warned about pirate anime DVDs on their mailing list, quote from mailing list:
It has come to our attention recently that there are some stores in Australia selling illegal pirated anime imported from Asian countries. This practice is not only illegal, it may result in serious damage to the legitimate local anime distribution industry - meaning less likelihood of seeing a high quality translation of your favorite anime released in Australia.
Many pirate anime DVDs have certain factors in common, they are almost always set to All Regions or Region 0. They have Chinese subtitles as well as the Japanese audio track, and many often have an English subtitle track which will vary in quality and accuracy of translation. Prices will often be very cheap, although some stores mark the prices up in order to make buyers think they are more likely to be legitimate products.
Madman is seeking to obtain information on any stores selling such goods in order to assist us in implementing a course of action to minimize the effect of this illegal behavior.  Any assistance by fans eager to help stamp out this piracy is greatly appreciated.
Please send all correspondence to nopiracy@madman.com.au
Check the Pirate Anime FAQ at Anime Digital to see how to identify pirate anime DVDs.
