Haiti
This Common Dreams article explains the situation in Haiti just before Aristide left. I really didn't know too much about the country, other than it used to be run by vicious dictators, the Duvaliers. They were overthrown, and president Reagan gave them refuge. President Clinton, however, helped Aristide to power, to the consternation of the Republicans. They accused him of wasting America's efforts on "nation building" in Haiti (you know, like Bush is now doing to Iraq and Afghanistan). The fall of president Aristide was universally reported in mainstream media as a president gone mad and bad, deserving to be removed, a president who wasn't legitimately the president because of "election irregularities". As it turns out, his mandate has more validity than President Bush's. This article shows that for the small nation, unfortunately, the USA conducts its own form of terrorism.
