We got up-close-and-personal with lots of wildlife--through our visit to the Billabong Sanctuary (where we are going to sponsor a rescued Koala) and the local lorikeets who were very friendly...this one had a thing for bottoms I think…
We hiked along the Forts Walk to see the old WWII ruins, and the amazing view from the top of the Island. Then we followed a disused trail  to a Scout campsite hidden in the National Park at Florence Bay--a stunning place--you can only reach it by foot or hard-core 4WD.
Since there had been no rain since March on the Island, we decided to sleep out under the stars on the beach--we were woken by a beautiful sunrise and had Guides' Own at dawn on the beach--an unforgettable experience!

Thanks to the Scouts who joined us and made it possible.
