About VK3BIZ:
I'm located about 20 - 25Km North East of the Central Business District of Melbourne in Watsonia, Victoria, Australia.
My interests include IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Project), Echolink, Packet Radio and ATV. I used to play with Packet radio back in the mid 1980's when I bought a TAPR 6809 TNC1 kit. I would be interested in running Packet under Linux, if I had the time.
I am interesting in playing with ATV and have a partly built ATV kit. Unfortunately I'm in a poor location for VHF and UHF transmission to Mt Dandenong where the Melbourne ATV repeater, VK3RTV, is located and do not have a proper antenna set up.
I was interested in the idea of using video conferencing for broadcasting ATV, which I called ITVLP (Internet TV Linking Project) although I have not had time or money to pursue that project. A Yahoo ITVLP group has been set up by John Hamilton KD5INM but does not get much activity.
Most of my time is taken up with FPGA projects that can be found on my other web site. One of my future projects is to design a real time video warper for ATV using an FPGA and video digitiser. I have a Xilinx Spartan 3E starter board and Digilent Inc VDEC1 video digitiser I plan to use for that purpose.
I'm a member of the NERG (North East Radio Group) in Melbourne as well as the WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia).
I can normally be found on the NERG liaison frequency of 146.575MHz FM simplex around 11:30pm to 12:30pm AEST, or occasionally on the NERG 70 cm repeater VK3RMH on 438.325 MHz.
