LISTEN



 

I had an interesting discussion 
just the other day, 
but I noticed no one was listening 
to a word I had to say, 

So I started to wonder 
as I opened up my eyes, 
I saw the person I was talking to 
was in a perfect disguise, 

It was like looking into a mirror 
the only person I could see, 
was the person I was talking to 
Yes, that person of course, was me.

LESSON IN LOVE



If you only knew how I felt
when I heard you had lied,
I felt so defeated
I became empty inside

You told me you loved me
but it was only lust,
I gave you my all
with my love and my trust

I wouldn't listen
to what my friends said,
because of what you told me
I believed you instead

Love is a power of emotions
only hearing what you believe,
I believed in what you told me
for why would you deceive

This has taught me a lesson
one I will never forget,
but I will never say I'm sorry
that we ever met

LAST GOODBYE

Standing beside her 
I stared straight ahead, 
I couldn't absorb 
the words that she said 

It was "goodbye I'm sorry 
you'll feel pain, 
it's over between us 
we can't meet again" 

Without another word 
or last goodbyes, 
she walked away 
with tears in her eyes 

I was left speechless 
my feet were lead, 
my voice was trembling 
with words I said 

"please don't leave me 
we can work it through, 
I know you love me 
as I love you" 

I looked to the distance 
I felt my heart ache, 
my insides cried 
how much could I take 

I will remember 
the good times we spent, 
the laughter we had 
the places we went 

I will suffer much pain 
with torment and tears, 
the love she gave me 
will be with me for years

LEAVING THE NEST

A mother cries in silence
a father fights his tears,
thoughts are left unspoken
of many treasured years

A daughter has taken her wings
to fly across the land,
sadly you give your blessings
and lovingly let go her hand

You hold on to all those memories
knowing they'll remain the same,
just like the photos you've saved
some placed on the wall in a frame

You have guided and directed them
always listening to everything they say,
then comes that time in their life
they decide to go their own way

You feel that time is motionless
with all your thoughts remaining still,
but you will hold on to your memories 
that you will treasure and always will

LEST WE FORGET



Today I'm one of thousands
who stand and cry in vain,
filled with much emotion
we remember all their pain

How can we replace
what man has taken away,
how do we go on
day after day

We may ask many questions
they'll try to tell us why,
but no one could ever answer
why they had to die

We all line up together
to share our deep respect
to those who we all love
lest we forget
