OUR WORLD

Alone I sit here on the sand
staring up to a blue sky,
the brightness of the is sun melting down
through fluffy clouds that pass me by

Among these clouds I sight
a rabbit wearing wings,
the harp of a lone angel
that carries no strings

The silhouette of two visions
of which one is a flower,
more clouds come floating by
to feed my imaginary power

droplets of water splash my toes
a sign of the tide rolling in,
more clouds drift over a pale moon
where the melting sun had been

I rise to look out yonder
my feet sinking slowly into sand,
I peel away the seaweed
from the back of my sunburned hand

My clothes cling against my skin
from more dampness than the wet,
as my eyes gaze out yonder
I capture a golden sunset

Backwards my feet wade from the shore
with the flow of the incoming tide,
as my eyes are now with a rainbow
appearing far from the other side

Only an ocean with this magnitude and colour
could capture such a view,
where all the worlds were created
but only this one grew

OUR LEADERS

Round and round in circles
after each other in a run,
aware of their laughter
their enjoyment and their fun

These are the children
in our future we will trust,
so while they are children
remember their fun is a must

It will give them a feeling
of self worth and esteem,
will implant in them courage
and a feeling of well being

Yours could become our leader
or maybe she will teach,
mine may entertain us
or maybe he will preach

Each and every one of them
will play important roles,
they will all be achievers
chasing their own goals

but whatever they choose to do
we will know that we are blessed,
for these are the children
for which we did our best

OUR LAND OUR LOVE

The sky a deep blue
reflects lakes and streams,
the inland of gold
where many a man dreams

Trees sway in the breeze
leaves weigh down with dust,
very little rain
where water is a must

But this is our land
in a drought that we dread,
with no fear of flood
where kangaroos lie dead

No such thing
as an eight hour day,
a man works forever
with little or no pay

He knows that at the end
he will be the winner,
for this is his land
his breakfast lunch and dinner

ONE WISH

A petal flutters to the floor
from a rose in full bloom,
giving a radiance of colour
in a fragrant filled room

The drapes are of plush velvet
the curtains a fine lace,
photos line the mantle
leaving very little space

A mirror on the dresser
reflects the moonlight shining thru,
the candles flicker, giving light
as I lay in wait for you

Soft music filters through the room
an ice bucket chilling wine,
you gave me one wish
well this wish is all mine

OUTING
Walking through the entrance
just following the crowd,
the music in the distance
was heavy but not loud

We were shown to a table
where I sat upon a chair,
looking all around
not knowing who was there

As the time crept on
more people lingered in,
I had a feeling of suffocation
he ordered me a gin

I could feel eyes were staring
I didn't feel at ease,
I just wanted to retreat
I was shaky at the knees

The room turned to darkness
then I couldn't see,
oh why did I go there
why did I agree

I asked if we could leave
I knew he would understand,
he just nodded in silence
and took me by the hand

OUR SONG

I remember the times
we spent together,
mo matter the hour
no matter the weather

So when the day came
that you did not show,
I felt there was something
but how could I know

I worried for hours
that turned into days,
I waited and waited
my life was a haze

Our memories I'll treasure
I will make them our song,
every day I will pray
that you're well and you're strong

But deep in my heart
I know you're at rest,
the times we spent together
were always the best

OUR LOVE

The people all around me
are heavy with noise,
the children are playing
happily with toys

My mood is rather grey
like a pebble or a stone,
lost in my thoughts
not quite empty, but alone

I gaze at the stars
in the sky up above,
with thoughts of the miles
that can't separate our love

The love that is ours
the love that we share,
the love that will always
go with us everywhere

ONE FOR THE ROAD

As he sat at the bar
quite within his right,
he ordered another beer
so they served him a light

He swayed on the stool
then he mumbled a word,
nothing of importance
just so he was heard

As he lifted the glass
he dribbled down his chin,
he stubbed his smoke
then threw it in the bin

He fumbled in his pockets
his hands came out empty,
he knew when he came
he had more than plenty

He downed his last glass
took his keys from the bar,
and headed to the door
to drive away in his car

Others looked around..
aware of his condition,
watched as his key
turned the ignition

Here is a man drunk
who has had more than his share,
ready to drive
without any care

not knowing or responsible
for what he may do,
remember the next victim
may belong to you
