Introduction

My name is Lou Siragusa and I am currently working on a PhD research study at Curtin University. The aim of this research project is to examine the effectiveness of the use of the Internet for learning in higher education. As part of this research I am investigating what students think about the online component of the unit they are studying.

I would greatly appreciate if you could spare about 15 minutes of your time to fill in a questionnaire regarding the online component of the unit that you are studying or completing. You may also be asked to participate in an interview at a later date. This will not be compulsory - only if you wish.

You will be asked questions about the Web site that you are using for this unit. These will cover issues such as the look and feel of the Web site, the quality of the content that is provided, how you are made to feel motivated to learn, how the Web site is used for communication, and how you are encouraged to learn on the Web site. The questionnaire will not ask questions of a personal and intrusive nature. It is not a test - it is your opinion that I am after.

It is planned that the information gathered in this study will contribute towards creating more effective and more enjoyable use of Web-based learning environments for students.

Please be assured that all the information gathered from this questionnaire will be totally confidential. Refusal to participate in this questionnaire will not disadvantage you in any way.
